My very good friend has been keeping reptiles for a long time. One day he comes over to my place and witnesses the glory of the 90g "Shoreline" :biggrin: and gets the idea, "I need a planted tank". So over the last couple of months we picked away at the equipment list. We picked up:
Current Sat+ for $35
AquaSand Earth for $23 ea (2 bags)
Seiryu stone for $62 from MrBluePanda, Thanks!
Manzanita for $60 from plantbrain, Thanks!

Really nice scape! Following.

Thanks everyone! Will do! I'm pretty excited about this one because I haven't used these high quality materials before. Also someone else is depending on me to deliver a high quality tank with their money and space so the bar is set high. This tank will be low tech/low maintenance with the Sat+, filter, and heater. No fert dosing and no CO2 dosing/injection. Weekly 50% WC and once a month filter cleaning. We'll be plant shopping this Sunday at the Aquarium Co-Op so a picture update will be coming soon. We are doing the DSM for this tank so we'll have a jungle established when we fill. Stay tuned

We spent last Saturday at the Aquarium Co-Op picking up some nice plants, fish, and wood from Cory. Thanks again Cory!
So here's some of the plant list so far:
Crypt parva - carpet
Crypt lucens - foreground
Anubias nana "petite" - plant mass on DW and crevasses in stone
Fissidens - cracks and crevasses in stone
Mini Rose Moss - DW

I know this is a planted tank forum but that hardscape would look amazing with no plants. Very nice job on the setup.

It's UP Aqua Sand Earth. I really like how dark brown it is. This was my first legit hardscape and I think it turned out pretty good. Thanks Hybrid

How much $ did you spend on all the plants? lucky you having such a nice selection of live plans you can get locally!!

We purchased 5 pots of Crypt parva for $5.99 ea, 4 pots of Anubias nana petite for $12.99 ea, and 3 pots of Crypt lucens for free ($7.99 ea) because of the quantity we bought. Buy six plants get one free, awesome deal. I also purchased wood, fish, and plants for my other tanks. I was able to separate a lot of trimmings from those pots. We are very privileged to have such nice plants locally.

Love the way you put the rock and the wood together instead of separating them. It gives it a completely new look from what you usually see.

Stone and root combo looks really natural - are you putting and creatures in apart from the plants ?

After the dry start and the tank has cycled we'll be stocking this tank with a large school of small tetras, ottos, bushy nose plecos, and shrimp. We're still deciding on the exact species of tetras and shrimp. Thanks Haytch

Thanks lamiskool. We can't wait either. Starting a new tank is always the ultimate test of patience. What carpet plant were you thinking of? I think the parva will look lush once it grows in. We needed to go with very minimal maintenance on this build. Just weekly water changes and fert dosing.
