For my 30 gallon, I am planning on going full planted, with pressurized co2, 2.5 watts/gallon, an eheim filter, and fluorite substrate.

The stocking will be 3 schools: rasboras, neons, and some otos.

So heres the questions:

1. Would it be better to go with Pfertz fertilizer or GLA? If neither, what else would be good to use? What type of dosing schedule should I use?

2. I looked into co2 reactors... would a 500 be just as good as a 1000 for a 30 gallon? are they connected the same way?

3. i only have a eheim 2213. should i get an additional powerhead for more flow? if so how should all this be arranged. not sure where to put teh intake/spray bar/ powerhead.

4. would it be just as good to use an air pump when the lights are off since i do not have a solenoid? it would be easy to connect this to the existing timer. is this just as effective?

5. what type of driftwood is long thin branches? i cannot figure out what the name is?

thank you! and any answers to the questions would really be helpful!!!! THANKS

I personally use bulk chemicals that I purchased at my local hydroponics store. I suppose if you cannot find any locally, you can order online from GLA.

I have not used either of these, so I cannot comment on them.

I would say a 2213 is unsuitable for a 30g tank. You should get powerheads to ensure you have sufficient flow/no dead spots in the tank. Alternatively, you could purchase a new filter.

Ideally, the intake should be positioned on the opposite side of the output/spray bar.

If you do not have a solenoid, then this means your CO2 will be running 24/7. During the night, when plants are not photosynthesizing, you can put your air pump on a timer so that excessive CO2 will not build up and suffocate your fish.

I believe you are looking for Manzanita driftwood.
