LFS didn't have any female ram and they all turned out to be male. I have them in a 55 gallon planted tank, think they'll be OK? Do they need rocks or will plants be enough for them? Thanks for any advice.

They should be fine especially if there are no females. They'll probably have little quarrels to figure out who is in charge but nothing to serious. I have a male GBR, EBR and Gold Ram and they get along quite well.

The Wholesale people hold these back, it keeps people from breeding them. You will hardly ever find a female balloon. I called a few directly and they stated they do not send out females. You can get lucky as I have one!

Probably so, the LFS got at least 40 GBR in their tank and we couldn't find one that looks like a female.
