having a hard time scaping my 29g, heres where I'm at with it now, but I do want to have it heavily planted so I am trying to figure out the best way to combine the iwagumi and nature scapes I love. Any suggestions

Great start! I bet it would look great the way it is once plants are added, but I am sure others' with a more artistic eye will critique the scape (not a bad thing!).

I can't help much in way of aquascaping, but I think you can achieve sense of depth a bit better, by having the stream/valley (middle pathway) wider up front and narrowing down towards the back. Adding smaller rocks or plants at the rear can also help create depth. That little rock up front on the right bank/side looks out of place to me. I've honestly never looked up what iwagumi or wabi-kusa even refers to, so I can't help their either haha :)

Plant options are more of a personal decision and depends on your growing equipment set up.

Anyways, welcome to the forum!
You happen to be on Honda-tech?

Looks awesome! Maybe try to reduce the symmetry in the scape a little to match the rule of thirds a bit better! :D
