Over the next month, I'm going to be setting up a 20H. At the moment the spot where the tank is going isn't ready:icon_redf. It will be soon though. I'll use river clay and pool filter sand as a substrate. After planting and cycling, I'll add cherry shrimp. I plan on having a "shelf" in the back for edge plants and planters around the outside of the tank for terrestrial plants. Using a Rena Filstar xp4 I currently have collecting dust, I'll make a waterfall.
I plan on adding pictures in the next week; hopefully it will make my description clearer. When I get to making the waterfall I'll probably need some advice because I've never made one befor.
For plants I'll have:
The majority of the aquatics I already have growing in another tank.
Banana Plant (some reason the bananas rotted but the plant is fine)
Echinodorus blehri 'Compactum'
Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Bronze'
Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Green'
Cryptocoryne (identity forgotten)
Large Java Fern (was sold to me as a faster growing variety)
Water Pennywort / Hydrocotyle leucocephala
Large clump of Subwassertang
Dwarf Papyrus / Cyporus papyrus 'Alternifolius'
Dwarf Baby Tears or Spiral Vallisneria
Dwarf Water Lettuce
Red Arrowhead (in planter)
Clinopodium brownei (in planter)
Anubias barteri 'Nana' (attached to the edge of the planter?)
Maybe an Echinodorus amazonicus (in planter)
In the land area I plan on growing:
Drosera Capensis (Cape Sundew) (I won't put it in regular potting soil)
A dwarf Bromeliad
A miniature Fern; possibly Nephrolepis exaltata 'Elzevir' or 'Fluffy Duffy'
A couple miniature african violets
and a couple of these:
Ficus pumila 'quercifolia' or 'Variegated' or Pyrrosia piloselloides
A miniature Ochid
Some type of air plant; maybe spanish moss?
When I get to choosing and buying the terrestrial plants, I don't know where I'll buy them. Should I go to the nearby greenhouse nursery or try ordering online? Also does anyone have any experience with dwarf ferns or terrestrial moss?
