I am no co2 guru, but I would suggest bumping up your Co2 to the max safe level for your livestock/plant consumption. 40ppm or so. use a drop checker or estimate your PPM with your KH and rested PH.
I'm running a 20 long for 8 hrs a day with a quad t5 Ho 10.5 inches from substrate with more than 12bps (Can't count past 12 bps as it's too fast) and I dose EI. I'm above 70ppm.
This is a plant only tank as I am past the Co2 safe zone for livestock. I have no real algae problems. Some dust algae on glass I clean off bi-weekly.
When I had livestock I had to keep my co2 lower and I had some algae problems, thus my reasoning for suggesting upping your Co2. 1bps isn't much. What is your CO2 PPM?
