Hi,
I currently have a 20 gallon 'high' tank, that I have a 28 watt coralife fixture over giving me 1.4wpg. But I have some questions about maintaining a low tech tank.

1) How often, if ever, should I dose ferts?
2) For a substrate, is regular fine gravel with root tabs fine?
3) How often should I perform water changes? From what I'm getting every couple months?

i think if you use a good base substrate ie eco complete flourite oe aquasoil and use root tabs for heavy feeders you should be fine without ferts. If plants start showing defincies dose accordingly.

no i dont think root tabs alone will be enough.

water changes should occur once every 2-3 weeks.

I think it will depend on what plants you are growing. I have a low tech 75 with java moss and hornwarts. No dosing or waterchanges. Just topping up of water, while plants get nutrients from the fish.
