So my local fish store had a 20% off everything sale yesterday so I finally got around to starting a nano tank.
I had a 2.5gal at home that I used.
I used white sand and mixed in some black gravel that I crused in a pestel and morter.
I used 4 different plants, who's names escape me and I tied some singapore most on a rock in the front of thank.
I added 3 nurite snails, one of which is a turtle nurite and one is a horned nurite.
I also added 3 cherry shrimp and 2 small livebearers.
Here is a pic, its a bit cloudy still.

Right now its a bit crappy looking. My local store did not have any grass or ground cover outside of the moss.
Does anyone have any websites where I can order some grasses that will cover the forground? I am also looking for a small piece of drift wood to put the singaport moss on in the background.
Any suggestions?

After looking at the photo a bit more I think I'm going to ditch th eplant that is the the far right and move the Singapore moss to the back of the tank/ along the right wall.
Still looking for suggestions for ground cover.
Dwarf Baby Tears? Or some kind of low moss

How much and what kind of lighting do you have?

14w compact florecent bulb. I believe the packaging said it was a "daylight" bulb or something along those lines. It was Philips brand from Home Depot. It is just screwed into one of those desk lamps with the bendable neck.

As long as your plants are low light you should be fine

one is not. I was told at the store that anything over 13 watts should be fine.
This seemed to be the most powerful light at home depot. Should I be looking for something else?

I know that most people will use the 27 watt hampton bay light from home depot if they're are going for high light.

is it 6500k? I'll take a look next time I get a chance to go there....
Will a light that high mean that I will have to use c02?

It's the right color temperature and you will probably need CO2. You can always keep your current light though and just do some low to medium light plants.

I've never used c02 so I don't think I will be going for anything like that right now.
Would c02 be hard to set up for a tank like this?

It shouldn't be that difficult. There should be a few threads out there of people setting up CO2 on smaller tanks like this.
