Hi all, i set up a 2.5 gal tank in my dorm room and i need a filter for it. I plant to keep cherry shrimp in it. i am having a hard time finding anything small enough for this tank. would be great if someone can link me a good filter...

Attach a little sponge on the input to keep the shrimp safe. Or just use any sponge filter.

The problem that I have is that a 2.5gal is so small already, any internal filter takes up what little space you have. Only my dwarf frog tank, I do have a little iMarine internal filter but only because its what I had around. When I get a chance and the money, I will replace it with this one I use on my 2.5 gal betta tank.

Its pretty similar to the red sea one. Was about $10 canadian at bigals, you can probably find it cheaper there.

I say hornwort. Shouldn't be too hard to keep up with a gallon water change maybe twice a week.

herns, if i convert it to a co2 defuser does it still filter? or mainly just water circulation?

I've used the same Red Sea filter on a couple small tanks for at least 4 years. I took a block of coarse sponge and thinned it down much smaller and any store-bought prefilter. You can almost see through it. It only needs cleaning a couple times a year.

ill be buying the spong for the bottom of the intake to save my litttle shrimps!

A Red Seas/Azoo filter sucked my beta up, but I have a feeling it had died earlier that day...

i wont have any fish just shrimp so i think the high flow might be good.
