I got this about a month ago and I am pretty sure I managed to cycle it with rocks and substrate from my other tank. At the moment I have 9 ghost shrimp, rocks, sticks, and wisteria in there.

I plan on replacing the ghost shrimp with cherry or yellow shrimp once I have it planted and running well enough to start a colony. My plan is to start the colony in the 2.5 gallon then start transporting them to my 10 gallon community tank.

To make this tank decently planted I want to add moss and marimo balls but what is a small, low light, and easy to grow plant I can put in there?

Also would it be worth upgrading the substrate to play sand and dirt. And if so can you give or direct me to good instructions for a substrate best for 2.5 gallon shrimp tank?

Here is the tank

Any help is appreciated! :icon_mrgr

I just got java moss and dwarf sag for my 10 gallon and have put some java moss in the 2.5 gallon. I also got a piece of volcanic rock and want to give the tanks a Hawaiian beach theme. I want the substrate to slant towards the back to about 2" max height. Should I just use play sand or should I put a layer of planting soil under that?

For the LEDs all it says is they are "energy saving."

On the manual the "Technical Specs" are:
Max power= 8.5W
Voltage/Frequency= Transformer: ac 100 ~ 120V/60 Hz
Filter and LED: AC 12V/ 60Hz

no idea if any of that means anything- there are 21 daylight LEDs and 3 moonlight/blue LEDs.

Since moss does not need too much light would it be best to just have pool filter sand as a substrate, the Volcanic rock in the middle, and have the Java moss growing behind it and spreading on both sides? If I go with that I would also probably keep the sticks with moss for the shrimp to crawl on.
I can just move the other plants to my 10 gallon.
