On large tanks, is it generally better to go with spray bars or just a single return jet? The tank is a 150g (72"X18"X29"). Accounting for head height my return pump should come in right around 820gph.

I fired up google but I found very little info pertaining to tanks of this size.

That large a flow would create a very strong jet returning to the tank. Perhaps split the return and have a couple of jets? Or diffuse it even more.
I have a spray bar on my 125, it is in 2 sections and is about half the length of the tank.
6' long tank, 2 sections of about 18" each.

I like to use spray bars mounted vertically in the corner facing the front center of the tank. If you can place one in each back corner like that it creates good circulation with little to no deadzones and depending on the background and spray bar color they are inconspicuous there. IMO

I would go with a spray bar. More surface agitation to elimainate foam buildup and oxygenate. Put the bar a little below the surface and angle the holes slightly upwards.
