I have been slacking in the tank journal department. I have a few more tanks now and need to make a journal for them. The one I am most excited about is my 12 Deep Blue rimless Cube tank that I have been cycling for my Sulawesi Cardinals that are finally coming next week.

First off let me tell you how hard it is to find these guys that are grown in the United States. I have read many horror stories of 80-90% die off rate of international shipping. I was scared to take the plunge to ship these guys over seas. The ones I did find stateside were so expensive that I couldn't afford to get. Then one of my random buddies I grew up with posted a picture of his fish room online. I made a phone call and we got to talking and he informed me that in the last few years he had gotten into Inverts as well. I told him about my tanks and my quest for Cardinals! He laughed and said do you want a few for free???? I am going to visit him next week about 5 hours away to pick up these guys! So excited :). He has had them over a year and has bred several generations so they should be nice and hardy!

I am going with a small HOB, Sponge filters and Inert sand for substrate. Will be using Pure RO and remineralizing with Salty Shrimp! I will post some pictures of the tank to this journal today!

Tanks

There is a few pictures of the Sulawesi tank and as well as my others on my shrimp rack. I have 6 shrimp tanks lol, I really like the 7.5g rimless ones so I may be converting or just buying more of them haha. For the Cardinal tank I went with the Marco rock with a thin crushed coral substrate.

Since I put the stone and substrate in there and changed the water with the Salty Shrimp 8.5 the Ph stays at a stable 8.3. Cardinals will thrive in the 7.5 but are said to do better with higher. I also have plans on getting some Harlequin shrimp so I figured I would just have the same setup down already. I have added two rabbit snails to the environment. Tank has been fully cycled, I have been cycling the filter I am using for 6 months. Today I am going to work on rescsaping some of my other tanks. I really just threw a few of these together. Want to make them a little more pleasing. I got a great deal on the shrimp so got them in first and made sure they stayed happy. Now it's my turn!

Cardinals will be here next Wednesday, I may add another plant or something to the setup. I really like how it is a simple scape right now. Not sure what to add that will complete it.

Oops looks like I posted s picture of my crystal. Counted 9 shrimp out this morning so I am hopeful they will do great! If you ever get a good deal go for them. Give me a few months and I will be selling these guys for a nice deal. I want to share them with everyone's! I couldn't charge someone the prices I have seen

Looking good Chris. I had these about 4 years ago and kept them alive in a similar set up. I had crushed coral under my sand substrate and had crushed coral in a filter sleeve in a big aqua clear filter. I also have red lava rock to raise the pH. I actually got them for a pretty good deal too. Well I was just graduating college and moving around to different places so I had my brother take care of them. Well he killed them all to say the least Lol

I would love to get back into them in the near future if you would ever start me off with a little group. Keep up the good work and hope to hear from you soon. PM me if you'd like I am not on here as often as I would like with my busy work schedule. Hope to hear from you soon bud.
