been about a week now since the tank have been set up. the weather was starting to get cold so i added a heater. im dosing flourish 2x a week because the hc was starting to turn white. the hc is growing and ill give it about another month for the hc to fill. still no algae!

IMHO, I think you might need more light to get that HC to grow horizontally...

i have 6.5 wpg, isn't that enough? i think it looks like this because that is how i planted them, not all the way in. i believe i got plenty of light because i see them spreading near the subtract.

oh well then you should be set. Yes, I think you have to plant individually...and I know its a PITA but it really pays off over time. I'd just leave them as they are now and wait for it to spread and then transplant them...

you're on a roll now...keep up the good work...I'd get some shrimp if you want the HC to stay algae free...looks like your off to a great start!
nice job keeping the algae at bay with that small of a bio-load!

i like the black rocks. it's great that you use the wood airstone as your cheap glass diffuser alternative, but isn't it better if you place it horizontally?

growth looks GREAT, and once again, I don't know how you're managing to avoid all algae with such a low bio-load. One thing I just noticed, and it's not a big deal, is that you should have slanted the substrate a little bit more from front to back to give it more perspective. But other than that, it looks great!
I hope MY HC grows as fast as that. Super color! And I really like those rocks too.
what did I tell you...I am the master HC grower! You should be good to go now...believe me in about another week you're going to start to have to trim! I'm glad you like it...its an awesome little plant...

can you tell me how to trim them?
a quick tip

can you tell me how to trim them?
Well all you have to do once it gets thick is to periodically cut across the top until you get it low enough to the substrate to your own satisfaction. It also helps if you cut squares of it out (only after it gets really thick) to try and thin it out...believe me once it starts growing it keeps going like a train if you don't change what your doing in terms of dosing, co2, lighting, etc...
