I recently moved and am FINALLY able to set up my 55gal!
It's been cycling for a week now and I've got a couple questions regarding my situation.
I've got Seachem Flourite substrate down and have plants coming.
DHG carpet, Amazon Sword, Red flame, and a bonsai drift wood with java...
Current tank parameters:
pH between 7 and 7.4
Temperature is around 28-29
Ammonia tester has gone bad and gave unreliable readings ( always eight ppm even though there are living things in the tank ), but I use some neutralizers just in case.
I do not currently have a reader for TDS, gH, or...
I have had my system set up now for about 4 months and over the past 3 months I have had a problem with water color. Currently there is this brownish/yellow tinge to the water. I have a 20 gallon extra tall, about 15 fish, ~30 watts LED, Malaysian driftwood, Manzanita wood...
I've been wanting to try Blyxa japonica out in my 10 gallon which i now think qualifies as a medium-low lighting, but I have a pH of 7.5 and gh in the 70s+ so lowing pH is not going to happen. I am curious if anyone has successfully kept this plant in pH at or above 7.5 pH and/or with very high gh?
Hello folks, I started an ADA60p at the end of October and I've been trying to do a fishless cycle. I have 1 bag of Amazon Aquasoil as the substrate and Ohko stone and DHG. I've an Ehiem 2213, an inline heater and DIY CO2 which is at ~1 bubble per sec. I live in San Fran...
A combination of messy mistakes has made the water in my 10g completely cloudy. Problem is I can't seem to clear it. Here's what I've done:
- daily 50-80% water changes
- multiple deep gravel vacuums
- temporarily put in a more powerful filter than is typically in that tank
- dredged the...
My 75 gal tank is still pretty new. My tap water has a ph of 7.6 and is pretty soft. The ph is artificially raised from its source water of 6.8. I want to get more like that.
Have begun filtering with fluval peat pellets, no carbon. This is supposed to soften and acidify the water. My question...
I just started a tank about 2 weeks ago. A 70gal custom built by me anyway I dirted the back half with organic soil and caped with play sand ( white ), the front/foreground has flora max as a sub that's it. I have one peace lily,DHG (dwarf hair grass), along with some glossostigma. When setting...
Hi everyone. This post was made back in January. The issue has been resolved. The problem was that my gH was suddenly too low, and once I added some remineralizer the deaths stopped. I am happy to report I have not had any issues with my shrimp since then.
What can you peoples tell me about viper shrimp? This is what I've found in my poking around:
They can get up to 6" long and live for a long time.
They are filter feeders, but will scavenge off the bottom.
Despite the name, even tiny fish are in no danger around them. They are only capable of...
