  1. Aquascaping
Hello everyone, hope yall safe and healthy! I am new to this forum but been a hobbyist for years. I'm designing an aquarium for my sis and her kids since they're sick of their 40$ 2gallon Walmart tank. I have an ADA 60p 17 gallon 24x12" tank set up. Thanks for your time and votes! Here's...
  2. General Planted Tank Discussion
Hello, Here's my new hardscape. I'm looking for plant suggestions. I'm pretty set on using rotala rotundofolia, Rotala H'ra in the background. With some Proserpinaca palustris in the middle to break the color with another tint. I might be missing some green though? Otherwise, I'm stuck with...
  3. Low Tech Forum
Hello Everyone! This is my first post here and my first ever planted tank! I'm enjoying the process of learning and understanding the world of planted tanks. I just planted this tank a little over a week ago, but I do have new growth on all the plants already (which is very exciting)...
  4. Aquascaping
First time doing a Forest Scape style tank, and thought I should get some feedback before filling. Any suggestions are welcome! I plan on stocking this with some Coral Moss, fissidens moss, hygrophila pinnatifida, Anubias nano petite, buce, and some crenata.
  5. Substrate
I may be new to planted tanks, but I'm not new to rocks. I majored in geology and I've noticed that most "aquarium safe rocks" lists are somewhat... limiting. I have seen a lot of conflicting information, and I think it largely comes down to two mindsets: Some people ONLY recommend inert rocks...
  6. Aquascaping
I plan on removing the large branch that I marked with red Xs. The pieces marked with blue dots were added and can be moved/removed. Should I add more rocks or branches anywhere? I plan on adding small skinny, flexible branches as roots in the final setup, making them look like they're growing...
  7. Aquascaping
Hello all! I am new to the forum and would like some constructive criticism on how I should scape my 55 gallon (48x12x21). I have two ideas so far but it just seems like I'm not happy with either. My initial idea was to have two branches pieces of driftwood which you will see drawn in red, with...
  8. Aquascaping
Any feedback on my hardscape/ideas for softscape is welcome. I have used found beach rock from Sydney and Aquasoil. The tank is 50L (13Gal). I plan on planting it heavily with a range of micro leaf carpeting plants, mosses, and taller stem plants along the rear and sides of the tank. This tank...
  9. The Lounge & Introductions
Hey guys, My name is Peter aka xRepto. I just recently set-up my first actual aquascape. I don't know if I'm allowed to link videos of my own here, but this is my first video of my setup atm I still have more episodes coming out. Let me know what y'all think? >:)

I've barely cleaned any of the rocks in my tank since it started, and now they are dark green, black in some places from build up and such. I suppose I thought it gave it a natural look but I'm starting to change my mind. Also, what do you use to clean them? Metal brush?

A scape box helped me a lot to improve my hardscape skills faster. Full video about why you should use a scape box, how it can look like, some general tips and a few hardscapes of mine.

Found these two pieces recently and was wondering if they would be safe to put in an aquarium. Are there ways to tell/test what kind of wood it is?
  13. Aquascaping
Hi! Been lurking here at PlantedTank for a while, this is my first post. I'm in the process of setting up a couple of tanks, and have been doing a loooot of reading, browsing pinterest for inspiration and so on. It'll soon be time to actually get the first tank going, an 80L (~20g) thing that's...
  14. For Sale/Trade
Updates are made frequently on Reddit's r/aquaswap forum. Same username! Hi all! So basically, I'm finally coming to terms with my depression and anxiety. I've sought out help and am slowly putting the pieces of my life back together. Because of this process, I've realized that I've neglected...
  15. Aquascaping
I have a Spec V that I setup with some spider wood a couple years ago. I neglected the tank quite a bit and now want to completely redo the scape. I was thinking some sort of stone, rather than wood. Not quite sure what I want but couldn't find any stone I liked locally. I was doing some...

I found this drift wood on the bank of a lake in near by forest (temperate forest). It has really nice twisting, anyways half portion of it was very well dried and another half portion is not so dried. It fits well for my 29G tank. my question is is this a hard wood or soft wood, wood has some...
  19. For Sale/Trade
Hi, guys. As i stated in another sale thread, I'm moving away to college soon and I have to get rid of a bunch of stuff. So any and all proceeds go directly to funding my education, lol. Anyways, I have a bunch of river stones that I've been using in my aquariums for years, and they're 100%...
  20. Aquascaping
I have this driftwood that I believe will fit perfectly, if not too snugly, in my Fluval Spec V, and I'm curious about how to set up the plants. I currently have the Spec with the filter on the left side, meaning the glass side is on the right. The branch, pictured below, starts low on the left...
