my 40g tank was doing so well but it all came down pretty quickly. bba started growing at an immense rate and my fish had camallanus worms:(
Fortunately, Im dosing the tank with meds for the worms and they seem to be reacting good to it. However my bba has not gotten under control at all if...
My tank has recently, and rather quickly, accumulated various types of algae. I have green spot algae, what I believe is black beard algae, and probably hair algae. The last two happened within the last week, the GSA has been a problem for a while.
Parameters of my 15 gal
Hi to all
I'm new member and new in to the hobby :) Things are going bit slower cos in my local stores, thre is not much to choose, especially on plants and equipment. Hope i'll learn a lot here and start contributing with my knowledge at some point.
I started with 60 liters tank, i have live...
I am setting up a 90G planted tank - my first serious tank - and am about a month into fishless cycling. I probably have another 2-3 weeks to go before the cycling completes, but I have been hit by an algae bloom that I am struggling to control and would love your advice on.
I have a several...
Howdy! I have been dry-starting some dwarf hairgrass for several weeks now (about 2 months), but I noticed that it has algae growing as well. I'm not sure if I just have to toss all of it, or if there is a way I can save it for the tank I'm planning on setting up this weekend? I am not sure of...
hey there!! I want to ask if you would be able to help me out with some results I got from my experiment? It is studying the effect of temperature on the rate of photosynthesis of algae. I only need to know if they make sense :)
I am calculating the rate of photosynthesis by measuring the...
Hey everyone--thanks for reading!
I'm a beginner aquascape hobbyist, and I've been working on this 20gal since fall semester. Needless to say, running a high-tech tank while in school is tough--I had a professor watch my tank over winter break, and even though I had written out instructions for...
I am not sure what type of Algae this is or how to get rid of it.
I am new to planted tanks and have a 10 gallon, all the specs can be found here: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/yourtanks.php?do=view&id=9346&n=Falconeyes88
It is ruining my tank and Plants.
:mad: I have a 55gl tank. Within a week of doing water changes the WHOLE tank turns completely green! I have a double filter and 2 Plecos... And i'm not sure whats going on.
The population in my tank are as follows....
2 Black fin Tetras
2 Tiger Barbs.
2 Giant Danios.
2 Blue Gourami.
i've had my first planted tank set up for a couple months and i now have a small amount of green and brown colored algae.
so far it has only shown up on a large rock, and on my heater and ladder diffuser.
i had no algae until i added a co2 canister, and i'm not sure how to combat...
Ok so I started a 20g long tank up on December 11, 2008, with the intention of having a heavily planted tank. I set up the basic components, added 15 zebra danios and let the tank do it's thing. All was quite well, there was a minor greenwater problem during the cycling but that cleared up right...
I got light colored green hair/thread?
(Looks like someone cleaned out their brush and put the hair on my moss.)
Thealgae is growing all over my moss.
This is a 10 gallon shrimp breeding tank with snails.
Lighting is a standard old 15 watt light bulb that comes with the light strip.
I see it...
Well i've had this annoying brown algae slowly forming in my tank for a couple weeks now. It mainly covers my substrate and foreground plants. Almost none of my other plants are effected. It seems like it's trying to form a mat over my substrate if it wasn't for my daily poking and stirring of...
I would really appreciate some more direction for moving toward a balanced, happier tank.
local river gravel substrate, sifted to 2-4mm (over a sprinkling of peat, clay, and osmocote)
Nitrate = 30
Nitrite = 0+ a teency
GH = 350
KH = 280
pH = 8.5
temp = 78
current lighting = 10w...
i got all my tank parameters under control to inhibit the stuff and i was confident i could control it if i could get rid of what i already had. i started dosing myacin (erithromycin) at full strength for three days and it was not having much impact. i went to my LFS to get more. when i was...
A couple of months ago I set up this 16 gallon low tech tank . I tried to make it as low tech as possible : Plain gravel, indirect sunlight (no bulbs), a heater, an internal power filter with adjustable current intensity, a mystery snail, plants (ludwigia repens, water sprite and elodeas)...
I need help!!!! How can I control Blue-green algae.
PH 6.7 to 6.2
Doze dry fertz: Potassium, Micros and GH Booster.
I stop dozing potassium because I read that to much would cause Blue-green algae.
Please let me know if you need more info...
My piece of driftwood is getting a clear/whitish fungus growth. It hasn't affected the ferns or moss on the wood, so should I be concerned? Will it go away after time, or what could I do to get rid of it without putting chemicals into the tank?
Does anyone know how to get rid of this algae? I have had it for a couple of weeks now. I been cutting the effected leaves but it still comes back. What can I do? The algae is on all my plants.( Swords, Anubias,Pygmy chain sword,Cryptocoryne Spiralis)
