I finally got ahold if the BGA that has plagued my monte carlo and now some type of hair algae is popping up everywhere. Its even on my healthy fast growing stems.
Light is a twinstar 450ea on a 5 gallon shallow tank. The light is definitely bright but I didn't barely have any hair...
Any ideas on why I have hair algae?
Tank - UNS60L (6 Gallon)
Light - Finnex Planted+ 24/7 (on for 6 hours @ max)
Co2 - 1BPS, adding 1 ml of Excel every other day
Fert - NilocG Thrive (1ml; MWF)
Filter - Finnex PX-360
Fauna - 2 Fancy Guppies, 3 Ammano, Bladder snails, Amphipods
Can someone please ID this algae. Is this just brown algae (diatom). This seems to be growing unusually fast for diatom. If I brush it off the leaves it goes off easily, but comes back and spreads really fast within days.
This is my first post in the planted tank forum after several years. This tank is about 1 and half years old. I have been battling all kinds of algae like crazy. I have tried all kinds of things, but still unable to battle algae and my stem plants are just dying. Please see the following...

I woke up this morning and turned on the lights in my new 20 gallon tank.
It's five days into cycling and everything seems to doing fine. But when I looked over at my Co2 Drop Checker I saw that around the opening had grown a membraneous white, furry film.
Can anyone tell me what it is and...
Hi.. Most of my Anubias leafs are covered with Algae and I did not find any new growth in past few months.
How to get rid of this algae issue and recover Anubias. Please help me :help:
My Tank specs:

I have read many times that inconsistent CO2 will contribute to algae growth, but I'm not really clear on what inconsistent means in this context. I just set up my first injected CO2 system and I'm having it turn off at night with the lights since the plants won't use much in the dark. I have...
I have been running this tank for about 8 months now. Before this, I only had diatoms, different kinds of diatoms. The plants were lush and green and thriving great. Then summer happened. I had to leave my tank for 3 months. After I returned, almost all of my hairgrass had died off...

Hello fellow planted aquariusts, I have recently got the itch to tear down my old 10 gallon tank and upgrade to a rimless Mr. Aqua 33.6 gallon tank. I am planning to go hi tech heavily planted with LED lights from buildmyled.com, ADA Amazonia, Ehiem ECCO pro 300. I am going to be purchasing...
This algae has been showing up in my tank recently. I run a 20 gallon tank, 48 watts of t5 lighting, injected co2 and fertilize with aquariumfertilizer.com's Macro Micro Nutrient Mix.
I also run a UV sterilizer 24/7 that I initially installed to combat green water.
This algae (bacteria?)...
I'm running 3 cups of sugar in a gallon juice jug DIY generator for ~1/2 bps with chopstick diffuser into my 24" tall 40 gal. With 2 T5HOs 22" over the substrate running 6.5 hrs each with 3 hr overlap blast I might need more CO2 or less light. Drop checker & 4 dKH are on the way. I can add...
i've had my first planted tank set up for a couple months and i now have a small amount of green and brown colored algae.
so far it has only shown up on a large rock, and on my heater and ladder diffuser.
i had no algae until i added a co2 canister, and i'm not sure how to combat...
I have DIY Co2 on a 46g planted tank, 1.8wpg T5.
I also have a ton of hair algae and bba on most of my plants, which is really doing some damage.
I was told that Co2 helps in controlling bba. What I need to know is how much Co2 I should have and how long it takes.
I have between 15-20ppm...
A couple of months ago I set up this 16 gallon low tech tank . I tried to make it as low tech as possible : Plain gravel, indirect sunlight (no bulbs), a heater, an internal power filter with adjustable current intensity, a mystery snail, plants (ludwigia repens, water sprite and elodeas)...
I have pruned a lot and added a 400 gph power head. That only gets me to 7 turn overs per hour. I have also slightly increased the CO2. Still dosing normal as well.
BBA is back and grows a little daily. I was at reputable the fish store today and they told me that rosy barbs will eat bba.
