So you want to build something like this light?
and do you want it controllable as well?
Really if one wants to do a RGB panel there are fairly inexpensive ones.

    Don't normally discourage DIY..
    It's easy enough w a 5 row wrgbw array..

Hey Jeffkrol would you be able to help me decide the best sequence of LEDS for a 20 Gallon Acrylic Planted Aquarium, please. The Aquariums I.D is 25"W x 12"D x 14"H. I'm tired of buying LED Lights that say they grow plants and they don't, one that come close to plant growth in the Zoomed AquaSun HO-LED 36" Light, go figure. I don't do CO2 in my other aquariums, but this 20 gallon I will. The Hardscape: Seiryu Stone, Spider DW, Organic Soil under a cap of Eco-Complete, foreground: used Black Inert sand. I planning this scape. Images here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/UPyVCnAp4ZFkg8SD6 - The First is Goal, the second is what I'm scaling. The lighting in the second is goal. I am tryna mimic ADA's TWINSTAR (S-series) 24" LED FIXTURE , 6500K (or the Kelvin rating, Full Spectrum that you found works best for Plant Photosynthesis) as I am a newbie at DIY Led Lighting. Thanks in Advance.

EVO uses 3W diodes and 90 degree lenses..
All others .5W diodes and 120 degree native optics..
Best place for all of these is
topdogsellers on the bay. He is also the Amazon one..
    Check his store

    Hey!

Could you give me some info on this:

How is the EVO so much higher than all the rest? I am about 18 inches from sub. Since I want high light at the substrate I am inclined to purchase one. Since Beamswork makes a few products could you find it on amazon and throw me a link or perhaps just copy paste the item name.

I already purchased a fluval spectrum BT a while ago, love the light but with a dirted low substrate planted tank I would like to see if it is possible to get high light 18-19 inches down.

    Thanks ahead of time!!!

I hope you don't mind me messaging you! On the EVO 5 light, I know that the color of the light is very cool and bluish, which I don't mind. The only PAR ratings that I've found are 100 just below the surface and 50 at the bottom of the EVO 5/Spec V. From one source (https://goo.gl/cqYwr4) it seems that the 50-100 PAR range is perfectly fine for what I have planted (anubias nana, crypts, and val), so I'm tempted to stick with the light rather than upgrade.

My only concern is algae. I want to this to be a low-tech tank, and don't want to have to deal with C02 except maybe a daily dose of Excel if needed. Since you have experience with a similar set up, do you have any advice on that? It seems like the light will be fine for plants, but am I going to have to deal with algae because of how bright it is? If I'm looking at more than just a daily dose of Excel, I'll probably swap out lights for the Stingray or possibly the Satellite LED+.

    Hello!

I've noticed you are quite the spokesperson for beamswork LED fixtures. In a thread I had made, you mentioned the DA FSPEC model for my shallow 20g long.

My question is, will it be sufficient to grow some carpet plants like monte carlo as well as some red plants? I'll be using a paintball Co2 tank and add some gla dry ferts whenever needed. I don't really plan on having my Co2 to go past 3bps, I'm hoping with that LED fixture and the semi low Co2 output it won't grow algae.

My last question, is the finnex stingray comparable to the beamswork fixture?

Thanks so much in advance, you've helped me narrow down my choices and opened up to possibility into the beamswork world

No. XR-15 freshwater is somewhat designed for freshwater.. Rest are reef centric but usable for most planted tanks.. Just cut down on the blue channel..

Thank you sir! If you say I'm good then I'll let it run for a bit and see if my dwarf baby tears and Monte Carlo do well. Greatly appreciate your time and expertise!

Phone app says 3167 Lux at 24" thus 47 par. My light to substrate is 16" if that changes much. Should I just get a finnex and be done or another fixture that you recommend? I like tinkering but not if I can get high end light fully controllable and what I just built is medium at best. Thanks, sorry for all the questions.
