I hope you don't mind me messaging you! On the EVO 5 light, I know that the color of the light is very cool and bluish, which I don't mind. The only PAR ratings that I've found are 100 just below the surface and 50 at the bottom of the EVO 5/Spec V. From one source (
https://goo.gl/cqYwr4) it seems that the 50-100 PAR range is perfectly fine for what I have planted (anubias nana, crypts, and val), so I'm tempted to stick with the light rather than upgrade.
My only concern is algae. I want to this to be a low-tech tank, and don't want to have to deal with C02 except maybe a daily dose of Excel if needed. Since you have experience with a similar set up, do you have any advice on that? It seems like the light will be fine for plants, but am I going to have to deal with algae because of how bright it is? If I'm looking at more than just a daily dose of Excel, I'll probably swap out lights for the Stingray or possibly the Satellite LED+.
