I have had some success so far with my 75 gallon using a Beamswork DA FSPEC, however the tank is still not fully established (fish safe and all, but it's only just over a month old). Plants are establishing well and showing good color, however. I also had the 36" version on my 40 breeder for a while, but I didn't know how to balance nutrients vs light vs co2 at the time, so I created an algae farm. I gave it to a friend of mine and he's been doing well with it in his dirted tank as well.

Regarding more light = less algae, I have experienced this somewhat recently as well. I upgraded from a Finnex 24/7 Planted+ to the Fluval 3.0, blasting way more light on my plants...and wouldn't you know it, the increased growth curbed algae, plus the plants look way better.

    Hi Varanidguy,
Not to clog up the main thread but my reply was specific to the question (which product would do better). My response indicated that I did not have success with this light.

But thank you for your reply on the light types. I understand your concern that lighting was not my issue, although my simple experiment with the sunlight seemed to indicate that with natural sunlight, the hair algae could not compete.

I have heard other stories of inconsistency with LED lighting. Since Beamswork is such an inexpensive option, I've wondering if other have had limited success?

    Regards,
    Paul
