Hi all - thinking of going sponge for an 8-gallon tank behind which I'll have little room for a HOB (against a wall) and don't really have a place for a canister below. I think I've narrowed it down to these two:

The Hydor seems the most well-regarded of the sponge filters while I hear lots about using the Poret in Mattenfilters. I'd imagine the round shape would be a bit better in terms of allowing even flow. Considered a Poret corner filter as well but it's a euro-braced acrylic tank and I'd have little access from the top.

Thoughts?

Thanks guys. Wound up ordering a couple Hydor sponges (sizes 2 and 3) from that place to try. I think I'll use a little powerhead on it as it will provide much better circulation given the long, low dimensions of this particular tank.
