Coarse foam for Aquaclear prefilter?

I placed an order with Han aquatics for some SS mesh filter guards back in October, Iím still waiting for them to ship. In the mean time, I need some foam to use as a prefilter so shrimplets donít get sucked in. I currently use the fluval (and knock-off fluval) prefilters from eBay, but they are not very coarse and they really restrict flow on my aquaclears.

Does anyone know where I can find some good quality, coarser black filter blocks to use as prefilters? No hole needed, I can cut that. I just want something that wonít reduce flow so much and can be cleaned regularly without falling apart, like the sponges inside the aquaclear.

Thank you

I normally just use a spare aquaclear sponge. But Petco has the imagitarium brand sponges that have the same coarse sponge texture but it comes in black
