Question about Fluval FX4

Good day. I'm currently using a Hydor Professional Canister filter. I've been using it for about 2 years but it has significantly reduced the flow over time and I'm looking to replace it with the FX4. I have just one question about the FX4. Where now, I am using I believe 5/8" ID connecting from the Hydor to GLA Cal Aqua Labs 17mm influx and efflux, I read that the FX4 uses ribbed piping? Can anyone confirm changing this out for regular 5/8" flexible tubing? Ribbed piping will not connect with these glass pieces for the input and output. Thanks.

I have an 07 series Fluval and switched-out the ribbed tubing for 5/8's with no problem. If you can confirm that the ribbed tubing on the 07 series is the same ID as the FX series, you'll be fine.

The ribbed tubing on the FX series is what turned me off on them.
