Recommendations for a surface skimmer

Hi

Does anyone have a recommendation for a surface skimmer? I'm noticing a lot of oil on the water surface of my 75g. Preferably something that doesn't get clogged with leaves etc easily.

I've been using this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for about a year and like it. It is on a 29 gal long and drives O2 from 8ppm up to 12ppm, which is excellent gas exchange. Haven't had a surface film problem in too many years to remember, so I can't address that concerning this skimmer.

Do you run CO2 on that tank? If so, does the increased O2 level affect the CO2 level?

Yes, I have pressurized CO2. The two are not related to each other, i.e.; O2 levels do not affect CO2 levels and vice versa.

Thanks. It between that and an Eheim Skim 350. The unit you suggested gets mixed reviews about its build quality but the Eheim is 2x the cost.

To clarify what Deanna mentioned, O2 and CO2 saturation levels are not related to each other.

However, excessive surface agitation will cause CO2 to outgas at a slightly faster rate, but you can easily inject more CO2 to compensate.

I’ve had this one for months

https://www.amazon.com/Marine-Color-.../dp/B07K158749

I got it for like $10 on eb ay Been pretty happy with it. Although I am looking into hooking one to my canister filter to remove another piece of powered equipment from my tank

I really liked this one because it was adjustable, you can clean the sponge without removing the entire filter, and it had a diffuse outlet. Look for "OCEAN FREE SURFCLEAR SURFACE SKIMMER for MARINE/FRESHWATER AQUARIUM" on eBay.

This is the route I usually take.

I've been using the "Ocean Free SURF CLEAR Surface Skimmer" for about 6 months and quite like it:
https://www.amazon.com/Azoo-SURFCLEA.../dp/B07WPF4WDW

Chose this one over the Eheim as it has a diffused outlet, rather than a directional jet, which worked better for where I wanted to position it. Also a bit cheaper than Eheim, but quality seems good enough and it works well.

I have a Shiruba surface skimmer and it works excellently for skimming. The primary reason I bought it was that it is white, so it blends into my background. One downside is that you need to remove the entire unit and disassemble it to clean the sponge.
