Eheim jager heater calibration question

So I just got a new Eheim Jager heater because my old one stopped working. I set the temp to 26 Celsius and turned it on. Overnight the temp of the tank reached 28.7 (tested with two thermometers). It’s autumn here so the ambient temp is cool, and shouldn’t contribute to the increase in temperature. I know the instructions tell you to wait 1-2 days before calibration, but I don’t want to risk frying up my fish as the heater light is still turned on. Will it ok if I re-calibrate right now?

All the "calibration" does is set the control knob so it is closer to actual temp the heater will get to . I have never had one be more than a degree or 2 off out of the box . I use and highly recommend using a controller . I use Inkbird diy ones but they also make a plug and play one . Other companies make them , but I have used the Inkbirds for a few years with no problems .

My wife says if I get one more aquarium she is going to leave me . I sure am going to miss her fried chicken .
