Mini Heater Suggestions

I have a Fluval Spec III. The current mini heater I have in there is not adjustable and I think it fried the majority of my shrimp cause it got real hot. Is there a mini ADJUSTABLE heater that you all recommend? I'll be placing it in the back compartment where the pump is so I don't have much room.

What is the tank temp run? I have shrimp tanks with not heaters at all running.

Just get a heater controller and then you can use any heater that will fit because the controller turns it on and off . Inbird has diy as well as ready made ones .

My wife says if I get one more aquarium she is going to leave me . I sure am going to miss her fried chicken .

As mentioned, your best option is probably no heater for most shrimp.

My thermometer states around 80. I know it's off 3-4 degrees (on the high side).

I ended up disconnecting the heater and have had no deaths. Right now its in between 70-80.

I purchased an infrared thermometer today so once I get the battery put in, I should have a better reading of the shrimp tank and my 30g.

Many do not need a heater. You have more chance of death from overheating.

I used the new thermometer and at first it read at 72 and then at 73. so the thermometer in the tank is off about 1-2 degrees not 3-4. So looks like I pretty much cooked my shrimp at some point. I did some more digging around and read that higher temps is better for breeding but it's also a big welcome to death. I experienced both as my shrimp were breeding like crazy and then disappearing/dying.

Will shrimp breed successfully at the lower temp? I'm going to assume it may take longer.
