Bubble counter draining

I'm not sure what is going on here. There's a check valve that I can't blow through the wrong direction, but I'm still having this issue. I fill the bubble counter, it operates correctly and then at some point when the controller has the solenoid off, it must be draining. Not that anyone needs a picture of an empty bubble counter but I took one anyway.

Upon starting up, you can see rings of water being pushed upwards but not any amount that will even partially refill the counter. And there's no big volume in the hose either, which I would have expected. Another bubble counter running off of the same CO2 tank is remaining full. Obviously I'll replace the check valve but not 100% sure it's my problem. Is it possible for the water to be forced into the aquarium? It could not have evaporated this quickly. Thanks for any thoughts.

Remember tho you blowing backwards into a check valve isnt the same as the 40psi back pressure once it cuts off. But that's weird that it just eats all that water...

Oh, I agree that blowing into it isn't going to push its capabilities but I figured it would be more pressure than the weight of 4 ounces of water. I'll pull the hoses and reset the whole thing up here soon. It still functions so not too pressing an issue just rather baffling.
