Aquaclear filter media

I have an old Aquaclear Mini (I think that it's called the Aquaclear 20 now?) that I want to add as a temporary second filter on my 10gal. I currently have a Marina Slim 10 running. I will be setting up a new tank in a few weeks/month or so, and I will take the media from the Marina filter and put it in an Aquaclear 50 to kick start the cycle. I like the Aquaclear 20 and will continue to run it on my 10gal as the main filter after.

My question is, I have a bunch of the Aquaclear sponges, and a bag of the biomax media. Is there any particular order that I should layer them? I'm not going to use the carbon, so I was thinking bottom two layers will be sponge, with the top layer the biomax. I'll also add a sponge on the intake. Should I add anything in the little intake area where the tube is? I can cut some sponge to fit there too.

I have some dish scourers that I've used in other filters, is there any benefit to adding it to the Aquaclear too? It's much denser than the sponges. If I add it, does it matter where?

Just add them coarse to fine in main basket. Do not put anything in area around input tube, thats bypass overflow in case filter pads get clogged up water will bypass around them and back out over top of media in basket. Other wise if it clogs you’ll end up with water on floor, lots of it.

Foam block and a layer of this is all I run in mine.

In my AC110 and AC50 on my tanks I run the stock course sponge in the bottom, a layer of this stuff a layer of thin batting like material then the bioball bag on top.

Seems to work really well.

Oh and I run a course pond pre filter sponge on the intakes.
