Questions about CO2 for my tank

I finally decided to get a proper CO2 system for my tank.

I'm going to buy a 6.35Kg 10L 2 imp Gal CO2 cylinder that I should be able to buy with the gas for about 70.

I calculated that this should probably last my aquarium 18 months.

I am checking whether it has a horizontal or vertical valve first though because I think I'll need to know this to determine what CO2 kit/regulator/solenoid etc to get for it.

I've just a couple of questions about the CO2 kit that will attach to the cylinder.

- Does anyone know what the difference is between a single stage and dual stage regulator?

- Can I connect more than one output to my setup or is there a special adapter I will need for this?

(I am just thinking about the possibility that I am likely to have more tanks in the near future. I think I am going to have an Asian style Siamese Fighting Fish tank an Amazon tank and an African tank. Maybe even an Aussie one at some stage. So three or four tanks in total. The 24 imp Gal tank I'm working on at the moment is the African one.)

- What is the difference or advantage between a mains and a 12v solenoid?

- Do I really need a pH controller?

I like the look of a lot of the atomisers but I think I'm going to go with an inline diffuser.

Generally yes, w. individual metering valves (and possibly solenoids) for different tanks ..sizes, timing, and delivery volume.
most do fancy w/ manifolds ect.

AC can "chatter"..
Personally prefer DC (less AC near water) and the best solenoids are usually DC.
