best way to vac a shrimp tank...

What is the best way to vac a shrimp tank? Im seein a little build up of shrimp waste and wanted to know the best way to get this done.

The only way I found to do it without uprooting everything is to use a turkey baster. Yes, it will take forever, and I only have a 10 gallon, but it does work. You should probably take out any large rocks, driftwood, or decorations and that will give you some open space to work with. Suck out a baster full of water, drop it into a clear bowl, look for any shrimp that got sucked up... repeat about 100 times.

55 gal planted community tank, 46 gal Angel tank, 10 gal planted Cherry tank, 55 gal Angel tank, 20 gal Barb tank, 20 gal soon-to-be Cardinal tank

Sounds good... looks like i have to go buy a turkey baster. glad i only have a 5 gal tank.

Or toss a bit of netting over an airline hose and skim along at will.

how ever you plan on doing it, the trick is to try and minimize stirring up the substrate as best you can.
