Shrimp Sacrifice?

I currently have a lightly to med planted 10 gallon tank with one male betta, 3 nerite snails, a heater and an aqua tech 5 - 15 power filter.

I have eco complete heading this way and will be doing a total redo... I have been wanting to add more life to my tank and recently found out that my LFS (an hour plus drive) has shrimp! I phoned them and they have what they call feeder shrimp for a buck and a few higher end shrimp for $8.00 each....

Being as my betta has taken up a recent grudge with the tiger snail ... 8 bucks seems a bit high for a tasty snack. I am wondering what I MUST add to my set up to house the first few $1.00 test subjects?

Sometimes betas can get along with shrimp, but since he attack your snail maybe he is not the best companion for shrimp. You could get the shrimp a lot cheaper somewhere else though. Especially feeder shrimp or ghost shrimp.
