Is this an Amano Shrimp

Bought 3 of these guys at Petco. They were in with the ghost shrimp and I was pretty sure they were Amano's. Petco tried to tell me they were bamboo shrimp but after I told the guy they didn't have fans to feed he changed his mind. I got the 3 for $4 donation since they didn't have a code for them.

I'm not sure, but can you post some pictures of your tank? That moss looks awesome!

Thanks. The moss is flame moss I bought from a member here on stainless steel mesh. It's doing great. This is just a 5 gallon tank. I'll try to post tomorrow as I'm at work right now.

Thanks all. I thought they were for their size and the look. 4 bucks for 3 wasn't a bad deal then!

I think you're right. They were in with the ghost shrimp and I don't believe they had a clue.

Getting ready to produce eggs. Amano shrimp will reproduce in very hard water, like central valley groundwater, which sits around 333+ TDS and 12-16gh/kh.

Amanos can't complete a reproductive cycle in freshwater. The hatchlings need brackish conditions to live (like brine shrimp) and develop into shrimplets. After that they can be returned to freshwater. Pretty tricky and few if any hobbyists are raising Amano (cheaper to buy) AFAIK.

If your Amano does develop eggs, you can just let them hatch out and your fish will have a feast!
