sUBSTRAIGHT

can anyone suggest another sub straight for CRS? I do not want to use Amazonia its too expensive.

ive had really good luck with fluval shrimp stratum as far as buffering goes, it did start breaking down into mud about a year in though. it still buffered great at about a year and 3 months when i took the tank down due to moving but it was not leaching anything. it also does not leach when it is put in a tank like ada does. i put in the tank and filled ran a hob over night and shrimp went in next day

how does it do with plants I read it doesn't hold plants down well

its ok i had marsilea minuta in it, and one of the rotala but cant thing of what one it is. took it a bit to get settled in but once there were roots it stayed in place. eaier if you plant it then add shrimp a few weeks later, would give it a chance to cycle unless you are using old filter media then it does not take as long to cycle
