Berries this morning!

After just a month with shrimp, noticed my first berried female today!

I know some of you were convinced my red crystal shrimp might not make it, or that I didn't do my research. Well, you can relax a bit. Not only are molts fine, but one of my females has berries! The tank is still fairly new (cycled, up for two months, one with shrimp) but am hoping we get some nice babies in a month or so.

Congrats! If you have surviving babies, I'd be very interested in some that survive/breed successfully in your harder water.
I've heard often the adults will survive and breed in hard water, but that the babies don't make it past about ten days.
Here's hoping you're breeding a new super hardy strain of crs!!

Thanks. My water tho is very soft. Almost like getting ro water from the tap. Some were worried it was too soft, and we would have molting issues. So far everything seems good tho so far. Certainly didn't expect berries this quickly though!

Been very pleased with these shrimp. They come from aquaviewdesign.com. Dreamer_yoyo sells them on aquaviewdesign from time to time, a-s grade. Eventually we want to get things to a point where we can try some of their more expensive Taiwan bees.

If it works best not to mess with it, but if you still feel like you have to do something then try something like Bee Shrimp Mineral GH+ and add the little bit that's missing.

Agree completely. At this point not messing with a thing! Lol. I was thinking of adding something like that if we didn't end up with babies after a couple months. Would be fantastic if we end up with young without having to mess much with the water, that is for sure!

Congratulations Stan! I'm glad to see you back on here.
I am also working with very soft water 3deg Gh and 4deg Kh 110TDS.
I'm very interested to see your results.
