Can I add some shrimp to my tank

I have a 38G tall tank (36"x12"x20"H).
Current stocking:
-Three Koi Angels (2.5-3" without tail)
- One Lemon Tetra
- One Red Rummy Nose
- 20+ Cardinals (1-2")

There are good amount of plants in the tank (Amazon sword and some other plants).

Can I buy some shrimp for my tank? If so, what kind?

Thanks in advance.

Your shrimp will be just fish food with the stocking list you have already. The angels will hunt them down one by one for sure. If you want a shrimp tank, you would probably have to set up a separate shrimp only one.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I guess the shrimp would be very small, small enough to fit in Angel's mouth? No larger shrimp I could get?

Maybe amanos? I've kept them with tetras, cories and the like, but don't know whether angels would eat them.

Or, if the tank is well established, filter-feeding Atya and Atyopsis shrimp might work. Those can grow 4 inches or bigger.

Try ghost shrimp. Cheap and really hardy plus they don't go down that easy.

I have cherries in a 90 with angels. Their population is directly proportionate to my plant trimming.

I have a few glass shrimp with angels and they interact fine , the problem is the shrimp are such good scavengers when I feed the Corey's/cleaning crew sinking pellets the shrimp steal them. I have 5 glass shrimp.

Skip it, mate. You're asking for shrimp deaths.

With just the Tetras and a heavy planted tank they will do fine. My Red Cherry Shrimp are doing extremely well with my Cardinal Tetras and Glo-Fsh Green Tetras (White Skirt). I pull the clear adults out when I can and put them in my Discus Tank. My Discus go after them like cats after Catnip. Angels I assume will do the same.
