Shrimp owner's worst nightmare

So I was checking out the live plant section of an LFS near me, and something caught my eye. This thing was HUGE. Sorry in advance for the crappy cell phone pics.

Yes it is, that one is huge so he has been eating a bunch of fish or inverts. I would not buy plants form that place. Did you show them and warn them of their issue. If there is one there are a bunch more

Looks like an Aeshnid nymph! Granted I'm more into belostomatids and naucorids but that's just personal preference. They definitely want to get rid of him/her before it devours their fish and inverts. Intersting fact, dragonfly nymphs do not breathe through gills like damselflies. They are aeroneustic and the O2 they need diffuses in through their spiracles.

I had two of them when I got my 2nd fish tank. A 46 gal with 4 goldfish. They must have come in with the live plants I had just bought. I wanted to keep and raise them to see what they were. Never saw them again after the first time. My goldfish must have eaten them. I was so upset. But that just shows you how ignorant a beginning fish keeper can be. Luckily my goldfish at the time where the only fish in the tank. I dodged that bullet.

I definitely do not plan on buying plants at this particular store. One of their other plant tanks was overrun with scuds.

A woman that works there saw me taking the pictures, and when I tried to get her attention, she just ignored me. That bug was right out there in the open. I'd be hard pressed to believe that no employee has seen it yet. Maybe they're keeping it on purpose.

Awww, everyone's picking on the poor buggy. I never seen a bright green one before.
Although I would NOT want it near my tanks, I think it's kinda cool

It does look pretty cool. Just put it in it's own tank and feed it your culls.

Yeah, but it won't always look that way and be aquatic. I love dragonflies, but with my luck, it would morph, find a mate, bring it home to meet the family, and then my tanks would have hundreds of green buggies. After they finish off the fish, they may turn their beady little eyes on my cats, or worse, ME.
