How to form biofilm on glass wall?

I've noticed that in some tanks, people have a greenish layer of biofilm all around the sides of their tanks, which provide good space for shrimp to graze on. In my tanks, all my walls are clear, and signs of biofilm forming along the tank walls never occured before. What do people do to make this happen?

You mean the brown/green algae on the glass?
I usually avoid cleaning the glass on the aquarium sides coz I've seen adult and baby shrimp feed on that algae often.

When people generally keep shrimp tanks they are not concerned about algae so they run the lights a bit longer. You can easily form "green dust algae" by leaving the lights on a little bit longer; at least this is what I do when I want algae to form.

more light intensity and add ferts. you'll get it in a week.

I wouldn't recommend ferts in a shrimp tank...
