what else do you have in the tank? scuds are good live food for all kinds of fish, but they can get pretty unsightly if they are allowed to reproduce out of control. think tiny bugs all over your tank.

I cant comment much on them eating plants as Ive only really had them in my shrimp tanks which have no plants other than moss. I know they will eat detritus and dead plant matter, but as far as snacking on live plants I dunno.

I've kept them before, and haven't seen them munching on any live plants. They do love dead or decaying matter though.

I found them to prefer a colder temp than I kept, so I could never get a stable population in my tanks.

They will eat live plants if they run out of everything else to eat.

German blue rams, apistos, sae, endlers, 2 nerites. I think the rams will keep them in check, and the water temp.
I wonder how well they compete for food with pond snails.
I read a lot of post titles about removing them, so i don't want to regret putting them in the tank in the first place.

I never kept freshwater scuds which look like saltwater amphipods but I know that the latter will eat small critters including their eggs.
