I have four shrimp (2 red cherry, 2 amano) in a cool-water tank. Do they have any special needs? So far they seem to be doing fine feasting on algae and scraps of food. Should I feed them shrimp wafers? I also read that iodine should be added... How?

I am thinking of getting a few more red cherries, but I first want to make sure I am taking care of these few shrimp correctly.

Thanks.

Yes Iodine helps with there molting... I use a marine iodine and dose a little each water change.... Other than that they are pretty hardy and self suffient...

I have had both of those kinds of shrimp in my tanks for a while and I've done nothing special except give them a shrimp pellet or algae wafer every once in a while. They have molted fine without extra iodine being added to my tank.

Well, with the way my red cherries reproduce I don't think that they are unhealthy or unlively! And if my amano's got any more lively I don't know what they'd do. They already steal pellets and wafers from the fishes mouths!
