Importance of biofilm

Here are a few pics of my 55 gallon OEBT tank, I only clean the front glass. About 3 years of biofilm buildup on the other three surface areas. The moss in the tank has actually attached to the glass in some areas and is growing up the glass. As you can see the baby OEBT love the Biofilm.

That's amazing! May I know what is your substrate? Just curious what can last for 3 years.

Does that matter so much for tigers?

Importance of biofilm

Impressive and healthy tank. Congrats. I hope in three years I'll have such a tank.

All the specks are shrimp.

The substrate is a mix of black sand, pea sized gravel, and some fluval shrimp stratum.

It took me forever to convince my wife to leave the sides and back alone. Now it's looking gross. The shrimp love it. I think it's one of the most important keys to having more baby shrimp survive. There's always plenty of food for them.

Wow! Impressive.

The only glass I clean is the front panel. For viewing purposes. But that's an insane amount of babies. Like you, I keep the other three untouched.
