Angry Red Cherry Shrimp

I missed a parcel today, and I'm pretty [censored][censored][censored][censored][censored][censored][censored] sure its 10 red cherry shrimp that got sent to me a week early. Royal Mail don't open til tomorrow 7am and close at 1pm.

Do these shrimp have any hope of survival when I go pick them up tomorrow morning ASAP?

Depends upon how long they've been in transit and whether they were shipped in a breather bag.

Cherries are extremely hardy, so another day likely won't hurt anything.

they can survive provided they have adequate frost protection in the packaging and if packaged with moss. also the chances of survival are greater if a kordon breather bag is used to facilitate gas exchange. The risk of frost isnt an issue where you are so i hope they make it through till tomorrow. a day or so isnt terrible but next monday is definitely less likely

Cherries are pretty tough. Doubt a few extra hours will matter so long as they aren't exposed to temperature extremes.

Thats the thing, North London recently has been a bit touch and go with the weather - I might find myself walking home from the post office with the shrimp captured for eternity in a bag of solid ice.

One way to look at it:

If these shrimp were being shipped to a farther location they would be in the mail a day longer anyways. As long as they don't get overheated/underheated they should be fine.

But my train of thought may be invalid if you had 2nd day or next day shipping. Then it wouldn't matter the distance since it would take the same amount of time.

Been there done that with the US Postal Service. Home all day and walk out that evening to find a missed delivery in my mail box. On the plus side, my shrimp were still fine the next day.

I had yellows that were in the mail nearly a week and they all survived. Water was COLD too, probably 60ish degrees when it got to me.
