My tap water is around 200 tds and I noticed my fridge puts out around 160 tds. I was wondering if it was a good idea to use the fridge water when doing water changes to help lower my tds in the tank?

Tank is a cherry shrimp tank btw

Why lower the TDS? If the shrimp are doing fine then don't change a thing!

Unless you are willing to switch to RO water and shrimp minerals that is...

It’s just creeped up over the past 2 years. Normally it’s around 400 the shrimp are fine and breeding I just thought it would be better to get it between 200-300

Ah, makes sense!

You can either do larger water changes, or yes, use water with lower TDS.

The creep could be due to evaporation and only "topping up" with more tap, from something in the tank, over-feeding or any other number of things.

I’ve guilty of topping up. Thanks for your input I’ll just start doing more frequent water changes with the lower tds water

I'd start with fairly small water changes and lower the tds over time. You don't want to shock the shrimp with a sudden change.
