Question Pond snail in shrimp tank?

Hi there,
I recently finished and sealed up a 0.5 gallon Ecosphere. I have some leftover water with a 1 cm pond snail and some plants I got out of a fishing pond/lake. I was wondering if it would be safe to put a single pond snail in my cherry tank to help with the excess algae. I will isolate it for 1 week in dechlorinated tap water to get anything bad off of it.
Thanks,
InvertGuy
