Nerite Snails High nitrate shock

Hi guys, I've got a 10 gallon that I recently rescaped parts of. During that time, it would seem I stirred up some of my root tabs. I got a nitrate spike so my nitrates are now up at 40 whereas they are normally at 10-15ppm. My nerites are acting kinda listless (clammed up). The fish and Amanos seem fine though.

I did a large water change but that only brought the nitrate down a little (maybe 35 now) I would like to keep doing water changes over the next few days to slowly lower it.

I the meantime, should I move my nerites to my other tank with normal parameters? Will that shock them again?
