Snail question

I remember reading that there is a snail that eats algae but doesn't reproduce in an aquarium due to its breeding in brackish water. What kind of snail is that, and would it be compatible with a betta in a 10g tank? I'll have some Java moss and Java fern on wood, so plant safe is essential.

Nerites, in quite a few beautiful species. I'm not familiar enough with bettas to say.

With bettas you will run the risk they might go after your nerites. It depends on the individual fish.. could get lucky.

I don't keep fancy snails, but this seems relevant...
