Adding Calcium to a Walstad?

Hello,

I have a Walstad bowl (link in my signature) that has a LOT of ramshorn snails. So many in fact that I believe I am seeing some calcium deficiencies in their shells (white ragged lines on their shells). Other then doing water changes and occasionally adding ThriveC I have added nothing to the tank since setup. Any suggestions on how I can add calcium to the bowl without really messing up my water chemistry? Normally I would add cuddlefish bone but there is no filter in this tank. So there is nowhere to really add the bone without just letting it float around on the surface.... not an option. I've heard of wondershells, but I worry that might be too much?

Thoughts?

Just spitballin' here but maybe glue the piece of bone to a small rock to sink it? or add a tiny piece of aragonite instead? This is if your pH, GH measure low... If not, I'd try to boost the calcium in their diet w spinach, kale, or snello

Considering you are in Maryland, I would guess that you just have soft water.... meaning that you might want to look into a remineralizer so you can increase what's needed... be it GH or GH and KH.
