Water parameters

Hello everyone

I have set up and cycled a tank I'm wanting to put shrimps in to start breeding, I've just used a master test kit and all parameters look good except GH and KH. I live in the North East of England which is known for its hard water. My GH is 30 which is seriously high and my KH is 12 which is above average, Will the shrimps be fine and breed in these conditions? Everything except them results were spot on.

Thanks for the advice in advance

If you can get some locally bred shrimp that were born in those parameters they should be okay. Some of my best looking shrimp came from water similar to that (neocaridina).

Others might give the "proven" and "proper" parameters for them, but they will be fine in basically any water that is liquid as long as they were bred in similar conditions. If not, juvenile shrimp are they easiest to adjust. Once they start the second generation, survival rates should be much higher.

It depends on what type of shrimp you would like to keep .

I can't say I've heard of shrimp living in water *that* hard.... although I'm sure there's a first time for everything!

Would at least recommend getting RO/DI water and splitting it in half... to 15 GH... or further down to 8-10.
