Delivered with Hermit Crabs?

My friend works at a local museum that sells hermit crabs and various other small pets and this thing came with a shipment of other animals.
She told me that I can have it for my tank, which currently only has some snails that came with previous aquatic plants from Petco.
I'm not sure how to identify this lil thing (It's about 2"), so I'm unsure if I want to keep it would even eat, so very unsure if it should stay in my tank. If someone can give me some advice of what is in my aquarium and how to make it comfy, or if I should toss it- I'd thoroughly appreciate the input.Click image for larger version
