restart old tank, how long to cycle?

Hi
I've replaced substrate in my old tank, removed all media, lava rocks, driftwood etc.., and added new soil fluval stratum. how long it will take to cycle again. tank was running for more a year, old sponge, lava rocks, wood have bacteria colony already, is it possible to get this tank ready in a week or two?

possibly just test the water par and add a few starter fish

Depends on how long sponges sat around while you restarted. If the colony of bacteria doesn't eat, it dies off. Worst case, they all died and you have to re-start. It can still be done in about 3 weeks with a proper fishless cycle using pure ammonia to reach target levels quickly and accurately. Just keep temperature around 80-85, leave lights off and crank up the flow and aeration.
