GSAS Annual Plant Auction! November 11th!

GSAS Annual Plant Auction! November 11th!
Tuesday November 11: Plant Auction! (At West Seattle!)

The Greater Seattle Aquarium Society (your local aquarium club since 1971) is having its B-I-G annual Aquarium Plant Auction!! The money raised at this auction helps GSAS bring world class speakers to our community for our free lecture series presented at our regular meetings on the second Tuesday of the month. In the past couple of years we have hosted presentations by following internationally known speakers: Ad Konings, Karen Randall, Oliver Lucanus, Lawrence Kent, Chuck Rambo, Tom Barr, Gary Lange, Dick Au, Ted Judy, Christel Kasselmann, Ian Fuller, Mike Wise, Greg Sage, Juan Miguel Artigas Azas, and Klaus Steinhaus just to name a few.

What can you expect? Last year we had over 600 items which were sold in a little over 3 hours....the pace is fast and furious!! There will be tons of plants; most of them grown by GSAS members and some nice specimen plants purchased from the country's best commercial nursery. Along with the plants there is member-spawned fish, freshwater shrimp, maybe an axolotyl or two. What you won't see are any dry goods, tanks or filters (come back in April for the General Auction).

You must be a member to sell; everyone can buy! We accept cash, credit cards, or if you are a GSAS member a personal check.

When? Tuesday November 11th the doors open at 6:00 PM and the auction starts at 7:00 PM until ??

Our auction will be held at the West Seattle Christian Church Gymnasium, 4400 42nd Avenue Southwest, Seattle, WA. The church is conveniently located at the intersection of SW. Genesee St. and 42nd Ave. SW just 6 blocks from the West Seattle Bridge.

No admission charge, accessible, family friendly (but no furry/feathered pets please), lots of free parking in the rear

We are generously sponsored by many of the local fish stores and numerous aquarium supply manufacturers.

See our web page at www.GSAS.org for more information.

Hi All,

It's hard to believe that we are less than two weeks from our B-I-G Annual Plant Auction. Lots of plants, fish, and possibly some shrimp.....don't miss out!

Man, i wish the canadian import regulations weren't such a gong show. Damn government bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. Just past the Clink? I've made that drive in just over 2 hours from Vancouver, BC. I will have to investigate the rules further for next year.

Hi randylahey,

Yes, just past the Clink! We typically have several Vancouver & BC folks drive down for our General Auction in April including several from the Vancouver Area Hobbyist Society. If you haven't checked out VAHS they are a very good group in your area. On a number of occasions GSAS and VAHS have split the airfare and "shared" some excellent speakers including Christel Kasselmann (plants) and Ian Fuller (Corydoras). Hope to see you some time!

Yeah!, I just got myself a membership at the VAHS monster auction yesterday. What a riot! I will definitely make it to your april auction and blow all my birthday money. free bump to you guys. I urge everyone to join their local clubs and go to meetings, if you can, as these events are a great time. Meeting people, making connections and discussing fish nerd stuff.

Hi Randy,

Good for you Randy, I think you will be glad you did!

I agree, for folks that have an aquarium club in their area they are missing out if they don't check them out. Great folks, speakers, fish and plants....what's not to like!

Bump: Hi Folks,

We are only two nights away from the B-I-G GSAS Annual Plant Auction, lot of plants, fish, shrimp but not equipment (we save that for our General Auction in the spring). Don't forget we are meeting at our auction location in West Seattle; I hope to see you all there!!
