Brackish Planted Tank

I'm thinking about setting up a brackish planted tank with some figure-8 puffers. What are the downsides of a brackish planted tank besides the limitation on variety of plant species?

figure8's like to eat your plants. i was thinking about doing one as a riparium(sp?) with mangroves. you know, like crushed coral type substrate with rocks and mangroves on the top. maybe some java ferns here and there.

What would Honey Badger do?

I always heard that figure-8s where supposed to thrive in planted tanks & that they really didn't eat plants snails and shellfish are preferred foods.

Mangroves would be cool, but I'm probably going to do some basic java moss, anacharis, java fern, etc...
